Banana Split

It can be tempting to head over to McDonald’s before work and grab on of their sausage, egg and cheese sandwiches. Do not do that! That sandwich is one of the worst things you can put into your body in the morning. Anything even similar to that is not sufficient for your needs and will not carry you very far into the day.

Instead of unhealthy foods full of empty calories, we owe it to ourselves to start the day by eating something tasty, healthy and full of nutrients.

I have trouble enjoying many of the “normal” breakfast foods so I tend to get creative when I make breakfast. Because of my lack of interest in most breakfast foods I started thinking of things that I liked that weren’t breakfast foods.

I got to thinking and had a great idea. I love banana splits so I transformed it into a breakfast meal! I replaced the ice cream with yogurt and added some things to make it filling and healthy. The result was delicious and very filling.

Hopefully you can enjoy this recipe for yourself and maybe share it with your friends and family. I tried to lay it out as simple as I could so it is easy to understand. Just keep in mind that it isn’t an exact science. Change it up if you want and make it enjoyable for you!

Finally, here are the directions to make your very own breakfast banana split.

Ingredients:

You will need a banana, a half of a cup of yogurt, 2 strawberries, a forth of a cup of granola and 4 or 5 blueberries.

Preparation:

  1. First, the banana and cut it down the middle (long ways).
  2. Separate the two banana slices so they are a couple inches apart.
  3. Put two ¼ cup scoops of yogurt between the banana slices.
  4. Now take the strawberries, cut the tops off, and cut them into even slices.
  5. Spread ¼ cup of granola evenly on top of the area of the dish that has yogurt.
  6. Lay the strawberries on the yogurt so they are evenly spread apart.
  7. To top it off, place 2 or 3 blueberries on top of the scoops of yogurt.

Make Crab Salad On Avocado Halves

“Soft shell” crab meat can refer to any of the varieties of crab. The term refers to a particular growth phase when the crab loses its shell for a brief time frame, grows in size, and then forms a new shell. “Picked crab meat” is meat that is handpicked. Picked meat is generally the best although it can be more expensive than machine processed. If you purchase picked meat, you’ll save time when preparing it because it is usually free of shell fragments. Otherwise, if you purchase machine processed crab meat, you will need to spend a few minutes rinsing your crab meat in order to clear it of any possible shell debris.

This delicious meal is easy to make and won’t take more than twenty minutes to prepare.

Place 1/4 cup of finely chopped red onion into a large bowl and then add the following items: 1/2 cup of mayonnaise, 1/4 cup chopped cilantro (the fresher the better), 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt, and 4 teaspoons of lime juice. Mix together thoroughly, and then add 16 ounces of fresh (cooked) crab meat. Mix again.

You’ll need to slice four large avocados in half and remove the skin and the seeds. Cut a lemon in half and squeeze a tiny bit of fresh lemon juice onto each avocado (prevents them from turning brown).

You should now have 16 ounces of crab salad and 8 open halves of avocados. Place the avocado halves onto your serving plates, and then spoon the crab salad onto the avocado halves. And, last but certainly not least, enjoy your crab salad!

The listed ingredients are enough for 8 servings.

Cooking a Delicious Fish Dinner

Cooking

Here the issues might turn to be more serious that we have thought. Many believe that seafood is boring in terms of cooking and has a strong taste. However, if you have some imagination, cooking will become a piece of cake. The options are varied and very surprising. The first thing you have to do is divide fish into two categories: red and white.

Learn your fish

Before cooking you should know the main features of each type of fish meat. Red fish is rich in vitamins C and D as well as Omega oils, while white fish has plenty of anti-oxidants and proteins. You will be able to differentiate the two types of fish meat by their taste. Many people consider that white fish has a sort of distinct smell, but the red fish also has similar features.

Buying

When you want to try out a fish dinner, make sure you search well first. Don’t be shy in asking a specialized person where does the fish come from (farm, harbor etc). In addition to this you might also get some great services like gutting, skinning, portioning or pulling the bones out.

Freshness

Fresh fish is essential for the success of your dinner. Obviously, all sellers will tell you that their fish is fresh, but you cannot always trust their statements, right? So examine it yourself! You can figure out if the fish is not fresh by smelling it but also by looking at it. The white dish appears to be very dry and patchy, while the red one can lose its color and break up in pieces. Just don’t mistake the red fish that loses its color in contact with the water with the old one. And last but not least, keep in mind that whole fish has more flavor. Asian people know it better, so if you see one in a store, you might want to pay attention to what he is buying.

Seasoning

This is very important when cooking fish. Try to keep in your kitchen as many spices as possible. If you do not know what type works with fish, try sea-salt, herbs, paprika or pepper. These will be of great help when doing marinades to make your fish irresistible.

Cooking

This is very easy! The first thing you should do is add some seasoning and lemon juice, wrap the whole deal in tin foil and heat it up at 180 degrees C for about twenty minutes or less, depending on the fish.
